Weekly Meditation Meetings Exploring a Buddhist-Inspired Approach to Recovery From Addiction of All Kinds

Meditation Meetings: Join us on Thursday evenings from 7-8 pm at The Athens Addiction Recovery Center, 8801 Macon Hwy, Suite #1 (at the far left end when facing the building). Come up to 15 minutes early to socialize and get settled in!
Walking Group: on most Tuesday mornings around 9am we meet for about an hour, to walk and get to know one another. Email for more info about location for the week.
Monthly Fellowship: on the Second Thursday of each month we go out after the regular meditation meeting. We usually try for bowling at Showtime, but if they don't have any free lanes we might just go grab a bite to eat somewhere. Get on our email list for more info. We will also announce about this in our weekly meetings.

What is Recovery Dharma?
Recovery Dharma is a peer-led movement and community that is unified by our trust in the potential of each of us to recover and find freedom from the suffering of addiction. We believe that recovery means empowerment, and we support each other as partners walking the path of recovery together. Our program uses the Buddhist practices and principles of meditation, self-inquiry, wisdom, compassion, and community as tools for recovery and healing. Recovery Dharma welcomes anyone who is looking to heal from addiction and addictive behavior, whether it’s caused by substance use or process addictions like codependency, gambling, eating disorders, relationships, technology, or any obsessive or habitual pattern that creates suffering.
About Our Meetings
“Literature Discussion” is the standard format for Recovery Dharma meetings, featuring a reading from the Recovery Dharma Book to inspire shares:
Introductory readings about RD’s practices and principles
15-20 minute guided meditation
Book reading: usually one section of the RD book read aloud popcorn style by attendees
Group sharing about the reading, the meditation, or our recovery
Closing announcements and Dedication of Merit
Confidentiality
Everything seen and heard in Recovery Dharma meetings is strictly private and confidential.
